Can't give the thing away

A few of you may know that my move to the iPhone after I joined Deloitte was preceded by nearly two years of iPod touch 2nd generation usage.

I remember the day, the moment, while running for a bus, the touch popped out of my pocket and smacked onto Stratford High Street, cracking the screen and going flying.  I continued using it that way for probably another five months, before the iPhone relegated it to my electronics drawer.

Now has come the time to repair it, not because I've lost the iPhone but because my work Android phone is so rubbish at times that I reckon I can trade up several devices (the touch, an iPod 30GB and this phone itself) to spring for a properly good Android phone, all while spending less than £40 (plus a repair).

I dropped the touch off at a Queensway Market seller, Mobile Master, for the repair.  Several days later plus angry, annoyed phone calls (rife with denial from who answered on the Sunday), I finally picked the touch up yesterday--unrepaired and actually looking rather worse than when it was dropped off.  No longer was it a "touch"--only the sleep and Home buttons worked, and a bit more of the screen glass was missing.  At least it wasn't totally dead.

The second shop I took it to was unsuccessful at fixing it, 24 hours later.  So the touch is back with Elias, who has assured me "no problem" to repair and doesn't seemed fazed his first attempt has cause me to pin all future blame for problems squarely on him.  I'm away from Sat-Wed but rest assured if I can manage it, I will be stopping by the Queensway on the way home from Luton Airport.

Happy Boxing Day, Elias.
