I've got a new keyboard, finally!  I found a deal online for a full-sized keyboard for a mere £2.74 ($4.43 at current rates).  As one of the guys pointed out tonight, you certainly can't get a pint in London for that price, as they normally run you closer to four quid.

Hopefully the cell phone pic has turned out.  In any case, it's a full keyboard with a numpad, and I'm typing this post on it.  It's nothing special, and of course it's no Cherry keyboard, but for under a fiver (under 3 quid as it were), it's not too bad a shout.  It's not quite a chiclet keyboard and it's no pushbutton, so I have no idea what exactly what's it's using to register the keypresses, but it seems to be keeping up with me.  It's working fine, so there you go.

There are a few weird keys I don't know how to use, such as the power one and then a few other ones that don't have a clear purpose (seem to have a house and another a magnifying glass), and I shut down the computer at one point, so that wasn't too great, but at least the key functions work and it seems to be consistent.  Weirdly enough it has the hotkeys at the bottom of the keyboard, just above the wrist rest, but if you rest your wrist on it you don't find yourself hitting things accidentally as I had thought.  In fact, the hotkeys are recessed so it's difficult to press them at all, even when you really mean it--guess that's kind of the design so no one can complain about it.

In any case it's a fun little experiment, and I now have a keyboard with a numpad.  Moving up in the world!
